Absence
It is the student's responsibility to advise teachers of any absence/s.
International student attendance is closely monitored and recorded by the institute.
-
Where international student attendance is deemed not satisfactory (under 80% - including absence for more than five consecutive days without approval), they will be contacted and required to attend (in person) a meeting to discuss the issue/s. The Institute is required to advise the Department of Immigration and Citizenship of any unsatisfactory attendance.
Where apprentices/trainees are absent from the institute, they are required to:
-
provide legitimate proof of absence
-
provide a medical certificate if the absence is on account of sickness for any period of more than 3 days
-
where the two points above are not satisfied, the matter will be referred to the regional office of the Department of Education, Training and the Arts for student disciplinary action.
Where students participating in Queensland Studies Authority subjects, or vocational education and training programs, are absent from the institute, they are required to:
-
provide legitimate proof of absence
-
provide a medical certificate if that absence is on account of sickness for any period of more than three days.
Students receiving disability support services, such as sign language interpreting, must advise Disability Support Services of any absence, and if possible, provide at least forty-eight (48) hours notice.
