Policy
Staff borrowing
-
The TAFE Branch of the Mount Isa Education and Training Precinct library will lend to any member of staff any library resource that they require to enhance the quality of the delivery of their teaching programs.
-
Staff are able to borrow resources on inter-library loan to enhance the quality of the delivery of teaching programs.
-
Staff studying externally will be eligible to borrow inter-library loans if the external study is an upgrade of current teaching qualifications or beginning teaching qualifications, or will be of value to the Institute.
-
Teaching staff are eligible to borrow up to 15 items at the one time. Should they wish to borrow more than 15 items it is up to the librarian to decide if this number may be exceeded.
-
Administrative staff may borrow up to six items at the one time.
-
The loan period is two weeks for all items unless staff specifically request a long-term loan.
-
Items may be renewed as requested providing no other borrower has requested the item. Items on request must be returned as soon as possible.
-
Bulk loans may be organised by staff for class use and the staff member will be responsible for all items. These items must not be lent out to students from the classroom, as there is no management of these items at this point, thereby creating a risk management problem.
-
Bulk loans may be organised by sections when more than one teacher would need to use the items for class use.
Students
-
Currently enrolled students are eligible to borrow 10 items at a time for a period of two weeks.
-
Off campus students are able to phone 0747 44 9930 to request any library items
-
The Institute will pay the cost of the posting materials to the student. The student is responsible for paying return postage.
-
-
Students can borrow via Inter Library Loan for study purposes only.
-
Students may renew items provided no other borrower has requested the item. Requested items must be returned as soon as possible.
-
Students may reserve items issued to another borrower.
-
Overdue notices are sent out on a regular basis. If no response is received after 3 notices have been sent, an invoice for payment of the item is issued.
-
Students with outstanding invoices are not permitted to borrow until the item has been returned or the invoice paid.
-
Replacement costs are charged for outstanding material. Material out-of-print is charged at the average cost of the item which is $60 (incl GST).
-
Students currently enrolled with Mount Isa Institute of TAFE including remote students, any other Institute of TAFE Queensland students, and students of Spinifex State College are responsible for all items issued to them .
