Change of enrolment
Please discuss your change of enrolment requirements with your teacher or the Client Information Centre staff who will be able to provide you with a relevant range of options that are available to you. For example:
Withdrawal
You are required to formally submit an application to withdraw your enrolment. If you have received an unsuccessful result for an assessment item before withdrawing from the competency, you may receive a not yet competent result for the competency.
Transfer within Institute
If you are enrolled in government funded training you are permitted to change competencies/program within the institute (replace a competencies/program with another) within 14 days of the original competencies/program's start date. All enrolment changes must be approved by the Course co-coordinator/s and you are required to formally submit changes to your enrolment.
-
Part-time certificate students can increase to full-time study, providing competency pre-requisites and co-requisites are met
-
all changes to the mode of study are subject to the availability of places and are at the discretion of the appropriate Course co-coordinator
-
the tuition and student services fees you have paid will be applied to the fees for the new enrolment and any balance will be refunded to you.
Transfer between Institutes
You are able to transfer to or from another TAFE Queensland institute, where the competencies are substantially the same. Time limits do not apply to this type of transfer and it is your responsibility to negotiate the transfer and complete the appropriate paperwork. Both Institutes must agree to the transfer.
Deferment
If you are offered a place and cannot undertake your study at that time you will have to re-apply to gain an offer of place when you are able to undertake study. Deferment of an enrolment is not permitted except in exceptional circumstances and will not be granted for longer than 12 months.
In exceptional circumstances, you can make an application for deferment to the appropriate Institute officer. The application will give due consideration to the following:
-
you are required to supply evidence of your inability to start/continue your program of study
-
only in extreme exceptional circumstances will a leave of absence be provided after the start of study
-
the deferment approval may be conditional for example pending the continued availability of places in this program of study.
Student assistance and income support
Eligibility requirements for student assistance external to the Institute (for example Austudy, Youth Allowance and Abstudy) may vary across agencies (for example Centrelink and Veterans' Affairs); therefore prior to enrolment it is your responsibility to:
-
discuss your study options with the relevant agency
-
discuss your study requirements (for example attendance rates/study load) with the relevant agency.
If you are receiving student assistance from another agency you should notify them immediately of any changes to your study load or student status to avoid penalties.
Please contact us if you need assistance or have any questions.
