About the Mount Isa region
Mount Isa is a mining city located in 1829 kilometres from Brisbane, 883 kilometres from Townsville and 356 metres above sea level. Mount Isa, the "Oasis of the Outback" is a thriving community of approximately 22,000 residents.
The residents of Mount Isa enjoy modern facilities and shops, comfortable accommodation and a wide range of entertainment as well as almost every sport you can imagine.
Mount Isa averages 9.5 hours of sunshine a day with two distinct seasons - the wet season from November to March and the dry season between June and August.
Summers are hot with average minimums in the low 20s (degrees Celsius) and maximums in the high 30s. Most houses and businesses are air-conditioned. Winter is a pleasant mid 20 degrees in the daytime and nights averaging a very comfortable 12 degrees, and at times, can reach as low as zero.
