Mount Isa civil construction course builds future for students

Sixteen Cloncurry students will walk straight into a job at the completion of their Certificate II in Civil Construction thanks to a program developed by Mount Isa Institute of TAFE and local employment provider Job Find.

At the start of the program, the students completed an induction with Cloncurry Shire Council that has since offered full-time employment to all 16 students at completion of the course.

Teacher Mick Murphy is very impressed with the calibre of students and believes all the students will complete the qualification with some going on to further studies in horticulture. To support their studies and future employment, some of the students have taken the initiative and sought literacy and numeracy help outside of the course.
